Barzal finished the tournament with eight points (2G, 6A) in nine games, placing him among the top-15 scorers in the tournament.
While Canada finished with a medal, Team USA did not, falling 8-4 to Czechia in the bronze medal game. Team USA led 3-1 after the first period, but allowed seven of the next eight goals - including six in the third period. Kieffer Bellows played 12:55 in the contest and finished the tournament with five points (3G, 2A) in 10 games.

Canada beats Czechia 6-1
Team Canada advanced to the gold medal game after scoring a 6-1 win over Czechia in the semifinals.
Mathew Barzal scored in the win, capping off a three-goal second period that broke open a 1-1 tie. Barzal finished the game with a goal and three shots in 18:34 TOI.
Canada will play Finland in the gold medal game, marking the third-straight year the two teams have met in the final.
USA falls 4-3 to Finland
Team USA fell 4-3 to Finland on Saturday, meaning the Americans will play for the bronze medal against Czechia.
Kieffer Bellows did not record a point or a shot in the game in 13:12 TOI.
Barzal keys Canada comeback in quarterfinals vs Sweden
Mathew Barzal scored the game-tying goal and set up the OT winner as Team Canada completed a dramatic comeback vs Sweden in the quarterfinals at the 2022 IIHF World Championships.
Trailing 3-0 in the third period, Canada scored three goals to force overtime - including two in the final two minutes of the third period - and eventually sealed it in the extra frame, taking the quarterfinal matchup 4-3.
Barzal was key to the comeback, scoring the tying goal with 1:23 to play in the third. The goal was Barzal's first of the tournament.
The Islanders center played a big role in the OT-winner, dishing to Drake Batherson on a Canada power play 43 seconds into the extra frame.

Barzal finished the game with a goal, an assist and three shots on goal in 20:22 of ice time. The 25-year-old - who celebrated his birthday on May 26 - has four points (1G, 3A) in seven tournament games. Canada will play in the semifinal on May 28.
Canada beats France 7-1
Team Canada closed out round-robin play with a 7-1 win over France.
Canada finished round-robin play with a 5-0-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record and finished third in Group A. As a result, Canada will play Sweden in the quarterfinals.
Barzal skated 18:12 in the win.
USA beats Norway 4-2
Team USA finished round-robin play on a winning note, beating Norway 4-2.
Kieffer Bellows finished the game with four shots on goal in 14:07 TOI.
Team USA finished fourth in Group B with a 3-2-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record and will play Switzerland in quarterfinal action.
Team Canada, Team USA saddled with losses
Team USA was shut out 1-0 by Czechia on Monday, suffering their second loss of the tournament and first via shutout.
Bellows finished the game with four shots in 16:18 TOI.
Team USA is fourth in Group B with a 2-2-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record.
Team Canada also suffered their second loss of the tournament on Monday, losing 3-2 to Denmark. Canada lost to Denmark for the first time in 73 years.
Mathew Barzal was held off the scoresheet in the loss, but recorded four shots and went 7-4 in the faceoff circle in 16:53 TOI.
Canada is fourth in Group A with a 4-0-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record.
Team USA beats Sweden in OT
Team USA beat Sweden 3-2 in overtime on Saturday, as Adam Gaudette scored the OT winner at 4:48 of the extra frame.
Kieffer Bellows did not record a point in the game, but had three shots in 17:26 of ice time.
Team USA is 2-2-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) through five games, sitting third in Group B with 10 points.
Barzal records two assists in Canada loss
Mathew Barzal picked up a pair of assists, but the points came in a losing effort as Team Canada fell 6-3 to Switzerland.
Barzal dished both assists in the first period, initially giving Canada a 3-2 lead, but Switzerland responded with four unanswered goals to take the game. Barzal played 20:19 in the game, the most among Canadian forwards.
The loss was Canada's first. Canada is third in Group A with a 4-0-0-1 record (W-OTW-OTL-L).
Bellows scores twice in win over Great Britain
Kieffer Bellows scored a pair of goals as Team USA shut out Great Britain 3-0 on Thursday.

Both of Bellows' goals were insurance markers in the third period, coming just under three minutes apart from each other.
Bellows took eight shots in the game, playing 16:30.

Team Canada beat Kazakhstan 6-3 on Thursday to stay undefeated at the 2022 Worlds.
Mathew Barzal did not record a point in the win, recording two shots in 17:06 TOI.

Team USA falls 4-1 to Finland
Team USA suffered its first loss of the 2022 IIHF World Championships on Monday, falling 4-1 to Team Finland.
Kieffer Bellows' two-game point streak came to an end in the loss, while former Islander Valtteri Filppula scored the game-winning goal for Finland. Bellows tied for a team-high with three shots on goal.

Team Canada beats Slovakia 5-1
Team Canada improved to 3-0 at the IIHF Worlds after a 5-1 win over Slovakia on Monday.
Mathew Barzal did not record a point in the win, but won eight of 11 faceoffs and tied for a team-high five shots on goal. Barzal skated 19:29 in the win, the highest of any forward on Canada.

Bellows scores as USA beats Austria in OT
Kieffer Bellows scored his first goal of the 2022 IIHF World Championships on Sunday, putting Team USA on the board in 3-2 OT win against Austria. With USA down 2-0, Bellows scored on a bank shot to kickstart the American rally.

Barzal debuts in Canada's win over Italy
Mathew Barzal made his debut in the 2022 Worlds on Sunday, picking up an assist in Canada's 6-1 win over Italy.
Barzal picked up the secondary assist on Kent Johnson's goal to put Canada up 4-1 in the second period. The Islanders center played on a line with Johnson and Ottawa Senators winger Drake Batherson.

Bellows records assist in USA win over Latvia
Kieffer Bellows recorded an assist in Team USA's 4-1 win over Latvia on Friday.
Bellows had the primary helper on Riley Barber's icebreaker in the first period, deflecting Andrew Peeke's point shot, which then deflected off Barber and in.
