For Halloween this year, the Islanders provided the children of William Floyd Middle School with a real treat as the next stop in the “We’re All Islanders” School Assembly Program hit their school.  Over the course of three periods, 1,400 children filed into William Floyd Middle School’s state of the art assembly hall to hear from former players Steve Webb and Eric Cairns about the importance of teamwork.  Children in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade all had first hand examples of how working together as a team could help overcome differences, whether it be the players on the team overcoming differences in languages and backgrounds during training camp to become a tight knit unit, or whether it be the students working together to get goalie equipment on faster than a teacher working by themselves.  It was a real treat for all students on hand and everyone in the school received a great Islander goodie bag that included a huge discount on an upcoming game.
