Welcome Home Vets

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

As part of a season long promotion, the Islanders, Cellino & Barnes and Adelphi University recognize local military personnel who have served overseas protecting America and representing all Long Islanders.

Tonight the Islanders, along with the Detroit Red Wings, will recognize Chief Petty Officer Keith Kucera of the U.S. Coast Guide.  Keith joined the U.S. Coast Guard in July of 1993.  His assignments have included ships in Key West and Search and Rescue stations in Cape Canaveral, Florida.  His current assignment is at Jones Beach as the unit Executive Officer.  Keith will be acknowledged during a break in the action tonight and will be honored for all of his patriotic efforts.

Keith will be accompanied at the game by his wife Pamela, his brother-in-law Zach Cummings, sister-in-law Kathy Cummings and his two cousins Terry Lathrpp and John Franco.

Keith Kucera is one of 41 military personnel the team plans on honoring during the 2009-2010 season.  For more information on the Welcome Home Veteran of the Game promotion presented by Cellino & Barnes and Adelphi University and the past honorees, please visit the team’s dedication page here.
