Webb Expands Minds of Youngsters

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

Steve Webb and his friends Valerie the Ice Girl and Sparky made their way through the frigid temperatures up to Huntington this morning to make their next stop on the “We’re All Islanders” school assembly tour.  This time, it was the lucky students of Huntington Intermediate School who got to meet and learn from one of the all time biggest Islander fan favorites.  The school day began at 9am as over 500 students filled the gym to learn about a concept that is extremely important in order to be successful in life- teamwork.  With the help of a video of all the current players explaining teamwork, a fun demonstration involving dressing up as a goalie, and some great comparisons from Steve on how a school and team work hand in hand, all the children in attendance were able to get a firm grip on the importance of teamwork.  As the assembly concluded, each child returned to their classrooms, but not before learning that they would all be going home with a great Islanders gift bag.  For more information about how you can get the We’re All Islander school assembly program to your school, call (516) 501-6780.
