by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

USA 2, SLOVAKIA 4

Miroslav Satan scored an empty net goal with 38 seconds remaining to put the finishing touches on Slovakia's 4-2 upset win against Team USA at the World Championships in Helsinki.

Paul Stastny scored for the Americans on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity with 1:13 left in the second period to make it a 3-2 game.

Andrej Sekera scored to give Slovakia a 3-1 lead with six seconds left in the first period. That goal came a little more than four minutes after Carolina defenseman Justin Faulk scored on a long shot from the point to shrink Slovakia's lead to 2-1. Kyle Okposo assisted on Faulk's tally.

The Slovaks built a 2-0 lead on goals by Dominik Granak and former NHL player Branko Radivojevic.
