Brock Nelson tallied again, as Team USA secured a berth in the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win over Team Finland 3-1 at the IIHF World Championships in Minsk, Belarus.

Nelson scored his fourth goal of the tournament, 19 seconds into the game, burying a fortunate carom off the end boards while driving hard to the net. The Islanders center extended his point streak to three games (three goals, one assist) and picked up his sixth point overall.

Tyler Johnson put Team USA ahead 2-0 6:42 into the third period and added an empty netter in the game’s final minute. Nelson’s goal nearly held up as the game-winner, but the Finns broke Tim Thomas’ shutout bid with 3:14 to play in the third period. Thomas made 22 saves in the win.

Team USA improves to 3-1-0-2 (three wins, one overtime win, two losses) and currently sit in second place in Group B. Team USA rounds out their preliminary schedule Tuesday morning (5:45 a.m.) against Team Germany.
