• Beauvillier buried his 10th goal of the season and also dished out an assist. The winger now has 30 points (10G, 20A) through 59 games. His goal nine seconds into the game is now the second-fastest goal in franchise history behind only Bryan Trottier's five-second goal he scored on March 22, 1984.
• Bailey notched his seventh goal of the season and has totaled 31 points (7G, 24A) through 54 games.
• Wahlstrom tallied his 12th goal of the season. The winger has 22 points (12G, 10A) through 56 games.
Anders Lee posted a three-point outing with three assists. The Islanders captain now has five points (1G, 4A) in his last two games. Through 56 games this season, Lee has produced 36 points (24G, 12A).
Mathew Barzal handed out two assists and now has 42 points (12G, 30A) through 53 games.
• Sorokin made his 42nd start of the season and improved his record to 22-13-7 with his 37 saves. The Russian netminder owns a 2.29 GAA, a .927 SV% and six shutouts this season.
• Both Nelson and Lee have scored 10 goals in the month of March which is tied with Edmonton's Evander Kane for the second-most in the NHL behind St. Louis' David Perron and Nashville's Matt Duchene who each have scored 11 goals in the month.
Kieffer Bellows and Sebastian Aho drew in the lineup, replacing Cal Clutterbuck (out for season with shoulder surgery) and Scott Mayfield (out four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury).
• The Islanders were perfect on special teams going 1-for-1 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, which was impressive given the absences of Clutterbuck and Mayfield. The Islanders power play ranks 17th in the NHL at 20.1%, while their penalty kill ranks sixth at 83.4%.
• The Islanders are 23-7-5 when scoring first and are 5-18-4 when allowing the opening goal.
