Have your kids always wanted to try playing hockey? Here’s their chance! The Islanders are hosting the annual “Try Hockey For Free” day on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Islanders Iceworks in Syosset. The event runs from 4:15 - 5:30 p.m. and is open to the first 50 children ages 4 to 9. This session is for kids who have little or no experience playing hockey, and Islanders staff members will be on hand to instruct the participants in basic skating and fundamentals. All necessary equipment will be provided, but players who have any hockey gear or a bike helmet are encouraged to bring it to the rink. There will even be a few special guests on the ice as Sparky and the Ice Girls join the group!
