The City of Yarmouth has a special day in store for the Islanders on Wednesday. But before that happens, there's plenty of action for Steve Stirling's crew when they hit the ice at 8 a.m. at the Mariners' Centre in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Once again, the team will be broken up into three groups with two playing a mid-morning scrimmage at 9 a.m. It'll be a much-anticipated viewing as Alexei Yashin and Miroslav Satan see their first scrimmage action together in training camp. They will play on a Team C line with junior-aged sniper Blake Comeau - who is also a local son, of sorts, as his dad hails from Yarmouth and still has several relatives in the area.
Team C will also feature slick rookie blueliner Chris Campoli pairing on the backline with steady Brad Lukowich. First-year pros Petteri Nokelainen and Masi Marjamaki are also scheduled to skate in this group, as well. Garth Snow will be in the pipes for Team C, backed up by Frederic Cloutier. Following the team's morning workouts and scrimmage, the Islanders will visit "The Cat" high-speed ferry - which is known as one of the world's most intricate ferry operations. "The Cat" connects Yarmouth to Bar Harbor, ME at the speed on 55 MPH across the Gulf of Maine. It can carry up to 900 passengers and 240 passenger cars.
Stay tuned for Chris Botta and Jim Morlock's P.M. report following today's scrimmage and practice.
