Casey Cizikas scored the tying goal with 4:28 to play and Oliver Wahlstrom scored the only goal of a nine-round shootout as the Islanders completed a home-and-home sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers with a 4-3 win before a crowd of 16,362 at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Isles have won five of their last six games and are 8-3-1 in their last 12 games. They have also earned at least a point 12 times in the last 15 games (8-3-4). With the victory the Isles are back to NHL-.500 for the first time since a loss in Tampa Bay on November 15th dropped them to 5-5-2.

Wahlstrom's goal, the first in 16 attempts by an Islander this season, snapped a five-game losing streak in shootouts vs. the Isles. It was their first shootout win since April 8th, also vs. Philadelphia. Each of the last three Islander shootout wins have come against the Flyers…The Isles are 2-6 in games beyond 60 minutes this season while the Flyers are 3-8…Semyon Varlamov improves to 34-20 in shootouts while Carter Hart falls to 5-11…The Isles have won 87 games in shootouts, extending their own NHL record (Pittsburgh is second with 84); the Flyers are 53-96 in shootouts (by far the worst winning percentage in NHL history.)… It was only Wahlstrom's 2nd shootout goal in seven attempts; both have been game-deciding goals (3/14/2021 in New Jersey)….Semyon Varlamov has stopped 136 of 183 shots in shootouts; his 74.3 save percentage is the best in NHL history for any goalie who has faced 150 shootout attempts…This was the first shootout to end 1-0 in nine rounds or longer since Jake Allen (STL) beat Ottawa on March 1, 2016 and the longest shootout since Toronto beat Philadelphia in 11 rounds on November 2, 2019….Varlamov has now been involved in three shootouts that have gone nine rounds or longer and won them all.
