Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen scored goals before the game was four minutes old to give Carolina a 2-0 lead, and despite a strong 2nd period the Isles could never catch them, as the Hurricanes defeated the Isles 4-2 before a crowd of 11,390 at PNC Arena in Raleigh.
The loss snapped an Islander three-game winning streak and deprived the Isles (9-4-1 in their last 14 games) of an opportunity to move into first place in the Metropolitan Division.
