by Staff Writer / New York Islanders’s John McGourty praises the Islanders’ right wing position and their depth chart

In a recent column on, John McGourty doesn’t just commend the Islanders’ current right wing situation, but also speaks highly of its future potential. McGourty lists the top five right wings on the Islanders depth chart as Bill Guerin, Miroslav Satan, Trent Hunter, Jon Sim and former Detroit draft pick Daryl Bootland. McGourty argues that the Islanders are currently stronger than most teams at the right wing position.

However, McGourty doesn’t stop there. He looks beyond the 2007-08 Islanders to discuss who may fill the right side in the years to come, and still likes what he sees. He writes of the future Islanders right wing position to be filled by 2006 draft picks Kyle Okposo and Rhett Rakhshani as well as Blake Comeau and Jeremy Colliton, who have each seen time in the NHL.

Following his thorough analysis of the right side, McGourty goes into more depth regarding the Islanders prospects at all five positions. It’s a must-read for any Islanders fan.
