Tavares Scores, Assists in 4-2 Win

CANADA 4, SWITZERLAND 2

John Tavares scored Team Canada's first goal and assisted on the game-winner en route to a 4-2 victory over Switzerland Tuesday in Canada's final exhibition game prior to the 2012 IIHF World Championship.

Tavares and Andrew Ladd gave Canada a 2-0 lead before Roman Wick and Damien Brunner replied for the Swiss on the power play in the second.

Sharp snapped the 2-2 tie and then picked up an assist on Jeff Skinner's empty-net goal to seal the victory.

Cam Ward started and picked up the win for Canada, which opens the tournament against Slovakia on Friday in Helsinki, Finland.

The forward line of Tavares, Skinner and Sharp combined for seven points. Tavares was named the player of the game.

DENMARK 4, ITALY 2

Frans Nielsen had a four-point game with a goal and three assists to lead Denmark to a 4-1 victory over Italy in Denmark's final exhibition before the 2012 IIHF World Championship. Nielsen was named the Player of the Game.

Nielsen and Denmark open tournament play on Friday, May 4 against the Czech Republic in Stockholm.
