The Islanders have been proud to team up with Islandermania – the team's official message board – and on Saturday, prior to the Islanders matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers at the Nassau Coliseum, a few team representatives showed their appreciation for the group's hard work.
GM Garth Snow and defenseman Bruno Gervais, along with Islanders broadcasters Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe, paid a visit to the Islandermania tailgate party at the south end of the Coliseum parking to talk hockey with some of their biggest fans.
Equipped with a tent, food, beverages and a classic boom box, the Islandermania crew celebrated the beginning of spring before heading into the Coliseum.
"The Islanders have been really supportive of us all season," said Islandermania member Scott. "It was great to see Garth, Bruno, Howie and Billy come out to support us knowing how much we support them and the team. It's a really good back and forth relationship we have with the Islanders."
The Islandermania members had the opportunity to share their stories and thoughts with Snow and the gang. Snow stayed for more than an hour before Gervais joined in the festivities. Rose and Jaffe also had a blast, with Jaffe trying some of the tasty hot dogs being cooked on the grill.
"There was a great showing at the tailgate party," said Snow. "Islandermania has put together a first-class site that we're proud to have as our official message board."
