2004 first round pick out indefinitely

Islanders forward Petteri Nokelainen will have surgery today to repair a patella injury and will be sidelined indefinitely. The team's first round pick in 2004 missed the majority of his rookie season with patella tendonitis. After Nokelainen played the last three games for the Islanders and still experienced difficulty because of the injury, it was decided that Nokelainen should undergo surgery as soon as possible to correct the problem.

The surgery will be performed this afternoon by Islanders orthopedist Dr. Elliott Hershman at Pro HEALTHcare Associates in Lake Success.

The Islanders have made a few roster moves in preparation for tonight's game in Toronto. Defenseman Allan Rourke and center Jeremy Colliton have been recalled from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL on an emergency basis. Defenseman Joel Bouchard (knee) is out for tonight's game.

With wing Jason Blake expected back tonight after missing Sunday's game with a groin injury, left wing Rob Collins has been returned to Bridgeport.
