Home-Opening Weekend

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers open up the home portion of their 2005-06 schedule Saturday night when they host the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. at the Arena at Harbor Yard. On Sunday, the 2-1-1 Sound Tigers will play host to the first-place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 4:05 p.m.  Tickets are still available for both contests.


Saturday, October 22 vs. Portland (Mighty Ducks of Anaheim), 7:05 p.m.
Sunday, October 23 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (Pittsburgh Penguins), 4:05 p.m.
Saturday, October 29 at Hartford (New York Rangers), 7:05 p.m.


Justin Papineau recorded three goals and one assist to lead the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to a 5-4 win over the Binghamton Senators last Saturday at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The Sound Tigers had four players with two or more points in the win.  Along with Papineau's four points, Bruno Gervais had three assists, Rob Collins collected a goal and two assists and Sean Bergenheim added two assists.  With the win, the Sound Tigers completed their season-opening four-game road trip with a 2-1-1 record (five points).


Justn Papineau and Rob Collins are tied for fourth in the league in scoring with eight points each. Papineau has recorded four goals and four assists, while Collins has collected three goals and five assists in four games.

Wyatt Smith and Travis Brigley are expected to make their Sound Tigers debuts on Saturday against the Pirates.  Smith has missed four games with an ankle injury and Brigley has been out with a back injury.

After starting the season with a four-game road trip, the Sound Tigers will play four of their next five games at home.  Last season the Sound Tigers had a record at home of  27-13-0, third-best in the AHL.
