The Islanders organization has always been extremely involved in promoting autism awareness. Earlier this season, during the Islanders "Hockey With A Heart" campaign, the team hosted Autism Speaks Night at the Coliseum, raising $18,000 for the organization.
On Sunday, when the Bridgeport Sound Tigers—the Islanders’ AHL affiliate—take on the Hartford Wolf Pack at 4 pm, the players will wear special Autism Awareness jerseys. The uniforms that they’ll be wearing have been placed on eBay for fans to bid on. A portion of the proceeds will go towards autism research and funding in Connecticut. Click here

The special Autism Awareness jersey features a combination of the classic Sound Tigers blue and orange colors, along with the autism puzzle pieces. The orange Sound Tigers crest, sewn in the center of the predominately white jersey, remains untouched. Draped under the arm and down the side of the sweater are the green, yellow, blue, orange and red colors that make up the Autism logo. The Autism Awareness ribbon is sewn onto the right shoulder. On the left shoulder is the patch of the Islanders.
The winning bidders can have the jersey signed by that player with a personal inscription.
Shipping costs are listed in the item description on eBay. Or, winners can up the jerseys at the Sound Tigers office at the arena or at Islanders Iceworks in Syosset. Please specify upon winning the auction.
