Islanders take on Devils at Harbor Yard

It's the end of the beginning for the Islanders, as they play in their last tune-up game before the regular season starts on October 5th at Phoenix.

Tonight, the Islanders (2-2-0) take on the New Jersey Devils (3-3-0) in Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard, home of their AHL affiliate Sound Tigers.

The Islanders look to continue their winning ways after knocking off the NY Rangers in consecutive games by the scores of 5-2 and 2-1. Last night, Alexei Yashin scored a late tally in the third and Rick DiPietro stopped 14 of 15 shots to earn the win. Miroslav Satan scored the Islanders' first goal of the game on a 5-on-3 man advantage.

The Devils face the Islanders after winning two straight themselves, including a dramatic come-from-behind 5-4 shootout victory against Philadelphia yesterday after being down 4-1.

The Islanders are still carrying 26 men on their roster and will have to cut that down to 23 before the season opening road trip.
