On Monday, October 22nd, the New York Islanders' "We're All Islanders" school assembly program kicked off with great success as the first assembly took place at East Moriches Middle School. In front of a crowd of over 350 students, Steve Webb, Eric Cairns, Monica the Ice Girl, and Sparky talked to the children about how important team work is when striving to be successful. The assembly included a video of current Islander players explaining the need to work together and also how they give back to the community. It also included a demonstration in which a team of two students worked together in putting a full set of goalie equipment on versus another student who had to put on the equipment by himself. With a nice, unified, and loud "Let's Go Islanders" chant ending the assembly, the students returned to their classrooms smiling and all of them received an Islanders gift bag.
