/ New York Islanders
The New York Islanders announced today that forward Rob Schremp has been assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League on a conditioning stint.
Schremp, 24, suffered a lower back injury during the preseason and has been held out of all nine Islanders games this season. The fifth year professional out of Fulton, NY, scored 25 points (seven goals, 18 assists) in 44 games with the Islanders last season.
Schremp was selected in the first round, 25th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. The 5-10, 184-pound center was claimed off of waivers by the New York Islanders prior to the start of the 2009-10 season.
