Islanders fans who ever dreamed of going out for a skate with Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier or any of the Islanders dynasty members had their dreams come true on Saturday night. A benefit for the New York Islanders Children's Foundation, tonight's "Skate with the Greats" at Rexcorp Plaza will be a life-long memory for anyone in attendance.

At the gorgeous setting of the ice rink at RexCorp Plaza, "Mr. Islander" Bobby Nystrom jumped on the ice early at 6:45 pm with a group of fans to get the "Skate with the Greats" started. Soon after, Nystrom's teammates joined in.

Imagine skating in a winter wonderland alongside your all-time favorite Islanders while they told you stories of their days and nights in the Orange and Blue.

That's what happened tonight.

If that wasn't enough, when the event moved inside to the gorgeous atrium at RexCorp Plaza, there was an opportunity to take a picture with hockey's Holy Grail – the Stanley Cup - with your favorite members of the Core of the Four.

Bill Torrey, Al Arbour, Denis Potvin and Butch Goring were in the mix signing autographs and speaking one-one-one with longtime Islanders fans.

"This is what any team should do to keep the old fans and add a new generation," said season ticketholder James Dicker. "I grew up watching this team and when I was at school, I was able to watch every one of their Stanley Cup parades. It's been such a great event seeing everybody."

Current players Bruno Gervais, Chris Campoli, Aaron Johnson and Jon Sim, as well as GM Garth Snow were also in attendance and couldn't help but comment on the historical figures in their presence.

"You hear the names like Potvin and Torrey all the time," said Johnson. "But to actually see them all together for the first time is amazing."

Following a sumptuous dinner, a silent and live auction raised additional funds for the Islanders Children's Foundation.

"Tonight's event couldn't have gone any better," said Bossy. "This was truly a treat for everyone involved. We can't thank our benefactors enough for their support of our Children's Foundation. This is a night I don't think any of us will ever forget."
