Rapid Recap: Coyotes 5, Islanders 4

The New York Islanders fell 5-4 to the Arizona Coyotes on Friday at Mullett Arena.
Sebastian Aho (1G, 1A) and Mathew Barzal (1G, 1A) gave the Islanders an early 2-0 lead, but the Coyotes came back in the second period to take the lead. The Islanders tied it late in the second, but the Coyotes pulled away in the third.
Noah Dobson and Anthony Beauvillier also scored for the Islanders while Clayton Keller (2G), Shayne Gostisbehere, Nick Bjugstad and Travis Boyd scored for the Coyotes.
The loss extended the Islanders winless streak to three games (0-2-1). The Isles dropped the season series with the Yotes, going 0-2-0.

THE SCORING

First Period:
1:41 - NYI 1, ARI 0 - Sebastian Aho scores with a one-timer from the point on the first shot of the game. Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey earn the assists.

13:33 - NYI 2, ARI 0 - Mathew Barzal deflects a Robin Salo point shot through Karel Vejmelka's five-hole. Sebastian Aho also earns an assist.

19:26 - NYI 2, ARI 1 - Shayne Gostisbehere's point shot deflects off Scott Mayfield and into the net just after the power play expires.

Second Period:

8:55 - ARI 2, NYI 2 - Clayton Keller puts a puck into traffic and off Mayfield's skate to tie the game. Nick Schmaltz and Barrett Hayton earn the assists.
9:09 - ARI 3, NYI 2 - Nick Bjugstad gives the Coyotes the lead fourteen seconds later on a wrist shot from the left circle. Josh Brown and Matias Maccelli pick up the assists.
17:45 - NYI 3, ARI 3 - Noah Dobson intercepts an attempted clear and ties the game with a shot from the point.

Third Period:
2:08 - ARI 4, NYI 3 - Travis Boyd buries his own rebound to retake the lead for the Coyotes. Jakob Chychrun and Nick Schmaltz pick up the assists.
14:49 - ARI 5, NYI 3 - Clayton Keller's wrister deflects in off Alexander Romanov for his second of the night. Jakob Chychrun and Nick Schmaltz earn the assists.
18:21 - ARI 5, NYI 4 - Anthony Beauvillier scores in his return to the lineup. Oliver Wahlstrom and Mathew Barzal earn the assists.

GOALTENDING BATTLE:

Ilya Sorokin saved 24 of 29 shots in the loss.
Karel Vejmelka saved 30 of 34 shots in the win.

The Islanders went 0-for-5 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
