Prospect three stars of the week

1st Star – Casey Cizikas

The Sound Tigers leading scorer had a phenomenal week, netting a whopping nine points (4g/5a) in three games. The team’s winning streak ended at eight games, but Bridgeport responded with two straight wins over Adirondack 6-2 and Syracuse 5-4. Cizikas scored two goals and one assist in the shootout loss to St. Johns, and potted one goal and two assists against Adirondack and Syracuse. With the exceptional week, Cizikas moves into 19th in AHL scoring with 14 goals and 24 assists this season. Tonight, he’ll represent the Sound Tigers in the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City.

2nd Star – Brock Nelson
Nelson scored four points, with a goal and an assist in each of North Dakota’s games this weekend en route to a sweep of Wisconsin.  Nelson was also named the first star during Saturday’s 4-2 win. The Islanders first round pick in 2010 (30th overall) is tied for first in scoring on North Dakota and stands10th in WCHA scoring with 19 goals and 12 assists (31 points) in 27 games.

3rd Star – John Persson
Persson scored three points (2g/1a) in three Western Hockey League games last week and is riding a five-game point streak. Persson’s Red Deer Rebels won two of their three games, with the left-winger contributing a goal in Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Vancouver, a goal in Friday’s 3-2 victory over Tri-City and an assist in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Brandon. The Isle’s fifth round pick in 2011 has had a consistent season, averaging almost a point-per-game (17g/27a) in 48 games.
