The Islanders kick off the 2016 preseason against the Philadelphia Flyers

The New York Islanders kick off their preseason on Monday night, hosting the Philadelphia Flyers at 7 p.m. at Barclays Center.

Islanders first-round picks - Mathew Barzal, Joshua Ho-Sang, Michael Dal Colle and Anthony Beauvillier - will play in Monday's game, skating alongside Ryan Strome, Ryan Pulock, Shane Prince and Eric Boulton.

"It's important for everybody to showcase what they can bring to our lineup and our identity," head coach Jack Capuano said. "I'm not looking at the result as much as where guys are going to fit, which guys have good hockey IQ that can play within the team concept, but also guys that play with pace and play the way that we want to play.

Goalies JF Berube and Christopher Gibson will dress for Monday's game, but Capuano hasn't revealed how - or if - he'll split his goalies. The Islanders play a pair of split-squad preseason games on Tuesday night vs. the Flyers and New York Rangers, so all four goalies - Berube, Gibson, Eamon McAdam and Stephon Williams - will all likely see time.

"For them it's a great experience," Capuano said. "It's going to be a good situation for them to get an opportunity while a few of our goalies aren't here."

Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss are still with Team Europe at the World Cup of Hockey. Europe will play Canada in the Final series, so the two goalies won't be back until at least Friday.
