Practice Updates 2/7/14

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

Following Thursday night’s loss to the Calgary Flames, the Islanders were back on the ice this morning for practice at Nassau Coliseum. The line combinations were left intact at Friday’s practice, minus Peter Regin, who was traded, along with Pierre-Marc Bouchard, to the Chicago Blackhawks for a fourth-round pick.

Here are some news, quotes and pictures from today’s practice.

Hamonic Activated off IR: Travis Hamonic was activated off the team’s injured reserve Friday afternoon. The Islanders defenseman has missed 12 games with an upper-body injury and is expected to play Saturday night.

Capuano on Hamonic: It’s going to take him some time. He’s been out for a long period of time like Visnovsky. You get a 200+, big, strong defenseman that’s physical, [something] that every team needs. You can see what he means to our team. He’s a high-character guy, he’s strong, physical and vocal.

Stadium Series Jerseys: The Islanders practiced in their Stadium Series threads and will wear them Saturday night against the Colorado Avalanche.
