A different lineup yielded a different result for the New York Islanders on Monday, as they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.
Mike Sislo scored the Islanders' lone goal on Monday, as the teams played their second game in as many days, although both squads iced nearly all-new lineups in the rematch.
"I didn't think we were hard on the puck and we were easy to play against," said Head Coach Barry Trotz. "[We made] bad decisions. We were backing up instead of being on our toes. Some guys got a little nervous and gave them way too much space."

Shayne Gostisbehere scored a pair of power-play goals for the Flyers, including the eventual winner on a five-on-three late in the first period. Mikhail Vorobyev rounded out the scoring with the icebreaker at 16:56 of the first. The Flyers took advantage of their power play opportunities, going 2-for-5. The Islanders were 0-for-3.

NYI@PHI: Sislo buries feed from Hitchcock

Trotz did have some praise for Sislo, the 30-year-old winger who signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Islanders over the summer. Sislo finished the night with a goal and four shots in 12:10 TOI, while linemate - and Manhasset native - Ryan Hitchcock picked up an assist.
"They were our best guys today," Trotz said. "They competed. They skated and they were on the puck."
Thomas Greiss got the start in goal for the Islanders, allowing three goals - including two on the power play - on 13 shots. Jeremy Smith, who signed a one-year, AHL deal with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, stopped all seven he saw after taking over midway through the game.
Former Islander Michal Neuvirth stopped eight-of-nine in his start for the Flyers, while Carter Hart made 11 saves in his half game of work.

WILDE DEBUTS:

Bode Wilde got his first taste of NHL action on Monday, as the Islanders' 2018 second rounder (41st overall) suited up for his first preseason game.
Wilde, who had 36 points in 53 games with the USNTDP U18 team, skated 16:41 on Monday, largely on a pairing with Adam Pelech. Despite the loss, the young defenseman was grateful for the experience.
"It kind of hit me after a few minutes when I was out there," Wilde said. "Growing up watching these guys on TV from [Anders] Lee and the big names on this team to playing against Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek is pretty special."
The 18-year-old defenseman understandably needed some time to adjust to the speed of the game on Monday, noting that the pace of play has steadily increased through rookie camp to main camp and preseason. Wilde's best moment coming shorthanded in the second period when he blocked a sure goal from Jordan Weal on a backdoor play.
"I think I settled in and everyone else did too," Wilde said. "The pace picked up and got a little harder out there. Overall, I think it went well and had a lot of fun."
