Frans Nielsen gave us a few goals to choose from last week, scoring four in three games. While Nielsen was red-hot, one goal stands out above the rest. On Thursday night, the Danish center picked up the puck in his own end, wheeled down the ice and skated around all-star defenseman Justin Faulk, before pulling to his backhand and going top shelf on Eddie Lack. That type of move is usually reserved for the shootout.

JARO POSTS AN O
Jaroslav Halak made 29 saves for this second shutout of the season on Monday against the Calgary Flames. The Islanders goaltender was solid when he needed to be, preserving what was a close game until the Isles pulled away late in the third period. Halak’s best save came on Johnny Gaudreau in the slot late in the third period. While he was sick during the Islanders-Hurricanes game Thursday, Halak returned to action Saturday, helping the Islanders get a point in a 3-2 shootout loss. In total, Halak stopped 44-of-46 shots he faced this week, going 1-0-1 with a 1.00 goals-against average, a .956 save percentage and one shutout.
