Islanders 2005 first-round pick among 22 selected for World Junior Championships

Ryan O'Marra, the Islanders' 2005 first-round draft pick, was named on Friday to Canada's Junior National Team participating in the upcoming 2007 World Junior Championships.

"It's an honor to be selected to the National Team for the second time," said O'Marra. "I look forward to helping Canada win the title for the third year in a row."

O'Marra currently plays for first-place Saginaw in the Ontario Hockey League and has 11 goals and 8 assists in 20 games this season.

The prestigious tournament, comprised of the best players under the age of 20, takes place from December 26, 2006 to January 5, 2007 in Leksand and Mora, Sweden. Canada captured the Gold in Vancouver at the 2006 Championship and at the 2005 tournament in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This is the fifth time the tournament will be held in Sweden, the last time occurring in 2000, when Canada took home the Bronze Medal.
