Western Hockey League:

WHL Playoffs:
(1) Edmonton Oil Kings vs. (4) Medicine Hat Tigers - Oil Kings lead series 2-0

Griffin Reinhart and the Edmonton Oil Kings continued their drive to the Ed Chenoweth Cup, taking a 2-0 lead over the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL’s Eastern Conference Finals. The well-rested Oil Kings thumped the weary Tigers 8-3 in the series opener on Friday night, opening up a 7-0 lead midway through the second period. Reinhart scored one goal in the 8-3 rout. Sunday’s game was a closer affair, with the Oil Kings prevailing 3-1. Reinhart, the Islanders’ fourth-overall pick in 2012, assisted on Edgars Kulda’s empty-netter to seal the win. The series shifts to Medicine Hat for back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Oil Kings have won 10 of their first 11 post-season games.

OHL Playoffs:
(3) Erie Otters vs. (1) Guelph Storm - Storm lead series 2-0

Adam Pelech and the Erie Otters trail the Guelph Storm 2-0 as the OHL’s titans meet in the third-round playoff action. The Storm and Otters led the league with 108 and 106 points and each finished with 52 wins. Pelech contributed an assist in the series opener, but the Otters fell 5-4 in Guelph. Saturday’s contest yielded an unexpected result, as the Otters – who only lost once on their way to the conference finals – were routed 7-2. Pelech and the Otters look to rebound as the series shifts back to Erie Monday night.
