Mike Mann, a long time Islander fan and season ticket holder from Huntington, New York scored from the far blue line into a space just big enough to fit a puck, during the second intermission of the New York Islanders vs. Ottawa Senators game Saturday afternoon.  As a finalist in the NY Auto Giant Puck shoot, Mann walked away with a $30,000 credit towards the car of his choice.

Mann qualified for the contest after he finished as one of eight Islander “chuck-a-puck” winners. For the chuck-a-puck contest, fans purchase five pucks and during intermission, a target is brought out to center ice. After a barrage of pucks are thrown at the target, the closest puck wins half of the money collected from the purchase of the pucks.  The other half is donated to the Islanders Children’s Foundation.

“I followed the same idea as a golfer, just following through and aiming at the target,” Mann said.  “I was shocked when the puck actually slid through the small space in front of the goal, it was unbelievable.”
