The New York Islanders have announced that center Frans Nielsen will be out 8-to-12 weeks with multiple leg injuries.

Nielsen was injured on a hit by New Jersey defenseman Mike Mottau in the third period of the Islanders-Devils game on Friday night at the Prudential Center. Mottau was suspended two games by the NHL for the hit.

Nielsen recorded two goals and seven assists for nine points in 19 games. He is the first Danish player, who played hockey in Denmark, to skate in the NHL.
