The Official Site of the New York Islanders nominated for NY Emmy Award

The New York Islanders have made history once again. Thursday, the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science announced the nominees for the 55th Annual New York Emmy Awards – and was one of only 15 websites on the nominee list.

The Academy nominated the IslandersTV portal hosted by NeuLion on the team’s home web-site website under the category of Informational/Instructional broadcasts for their behind-the-scenes online video, New York Islanders: Behind the Broadcast. Behind the Broadcast.  The package took an in-depth look at the people who produce the Islanders hockey games on MSG Networks and how exactly they put the show together from start to finish.

The video featured interviews with a variety of MSG staff from producers, directors and graphics experts to on-air talent. The on-air talent interviewed for Behind the Broadcast included Islanders color analyst and four-time Stanley Cup Champion Butch Goring. It also included his on-air partner, play-by-play announcer Howie Rose and on-air host, Deb Placey. Rose was also nominated for a New York Emmy Award Thursday, his nomination comes in the category of On-camera Talent: Sports Play-by-Play.

The 55th Annual New York Emmy® Awards are presented at a Black Tie Gala on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at The Marriott Marquis ~ Times Square.
