NEW YORK ISLANDERS KID'S DAY

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
Sparky, the Islanders mascot is welcoming all of his friends from across the League to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, Dec. 5, to celebrate Kid’s Day.  All of the mascot attendees will take part in arena and on-ice activities with children in the audience throughout the game as the Islanders take on their Atlantic Division rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers.

Throughout the game, the mascots will walk around the concourse, making visits to the children in attendance. During the second intermission, the mascots will participate in an on-ice game. Courtesy of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, there will be a hockey shaped logo bands giveaway colored in the spirit of Islanders blue and orange.

Mascots in attendance will include: Storm from the Sound Tigers, Blades from the Boston Bruins, NJ Devil from the New Jersey Devils, Sabretooth from the Buffalo Sabres, Slapshot from the Washington Capitals, Thrash from the Atlanta Thrashers, Stormy from the Carolina Hurricanes, and Bernie from the Colorado Avalanche. Local mascots include: Rambo from Farmingdale State Rams, Quackerjack from the Long Island Ducks, Thunder from St. John’s University and Willie from Hofstra University.

After the game, kids in attendance will have the chance to go onto the ice and participate in the Bethpage Post Game Puck Shoot. This game allows kids to shoot on multiple nets that are placed around the ice. Hat Trick or Slap Shot members of the Kid’s Club can take pictures on the Islanders Team Bench and skip the line for the post-game puck shoot.
