by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

The New York Islanders are teaming up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive at Nassau Coliseum on Sunday, June 30. The blood drive will take place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. As a special thank you, all presenting donors will receive a voucher for two free tickets to a future Islanders regular season home game during the 2013-2014 season.*

“The American Red Cross wants to remind Islanders fans that your blood donations truly do make a difference in the lives of others. Your donation could help give a blood recipient a chance to see another sunset, celebrate another birthday, or enjoy another holiday with their family.” said Donna M. Morrissey, Director of Communications, Red Cross Blood Services - Northeast Division. “So please never doubt that your one donation can help make a lifesaving difference to a hospital patient in need.”

“The continued support we’ve received from Islanders fans at the American Red Cross blood drives has been exceptional,” Mike Bossy, Islanders VP of Corporate Partnership and Partnership Marketing, said. “The blood drive has become a staple of our community and has continued to grow over the years. It is important that as a community, we realize the importance of these events and take pride in supporting the Red Cross. The effort that our community puts forward at these blood drives helps save lives and there is nothing more commendable.”

With summer around the corner, the Red Cross is urging all eligible donors to help keep the blood supply strong by making an appointment to donate blood today. Your blood donation can help save the life of a real person in our community.
