The rookies have arrived on Long Island!
The New York Islanders annual mini camp kicked off on Monday, with the organization's prospects coming to Northwell Health Ice Center for the annual mid-summer development camp, a week of on-and off-ice workouts with the Islanders and Bridgeport Sound Tigers coaching staffs.
The prospects, which include 2016 first-round pick Kieffer Bellows, 2018 first-round picks Oliver Wahlstrom and Noah Dobson and 2017 second-rounder Robin Salo, will be split into two groups - blue and white - for daily skates from Tuesday-Saturday.
The annual Blue and White Scrimmage will take place on Thursday night, featuring three 20-minute games, plus a skills competition and post-scrimmage autograph session. Tickets are still available and the Islanders I.C.E. Tour will be outside and open to the public starting at 5:30 p.m. and will include a slap shot booth, obstacle course and moon bounce, as well as appearances by Sparky and the Ice Girls.
The prospects will play a second scrimmage on Saturday, but that session is closed to the public.
