Nelson, USA To Play For Bronze

and Team USA will play for the bronze medal at the 2016 IIHF World Championships.

The Americans will face off against Russia on Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. (broadcast via live stream at NBC Sports Live Extra), the consolation prize after dropping a 4-3 decision to Canada in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

Nelson had an assist on David Warofsky’s second period goal on Saturday, tying the game 2-2. Team USA scored three unanswered goals in a span of just over seven minutes in the second period to take a 3-2 lead, but Canada tied the score with 4:30 to play in the period. Deadlocked 3-3, Ryan Ellis scored the eventual winner for Canada 1:34 into the third period. Canada will play Finland for gold at 1:15 E.T. on Sunday.

With the assist, Nelson has three points (1G, 2A) in five games.
