Morning Skate Updates - Islanders at Hurricanes 11/07/13

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders
The Islanders are back in action tonight as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes. The action gets under way from PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC at 7 p.m. The Islanders had an optional morning skate at the arena, here's some news and pictures from today's skate.

Ness Recalled: Aaron Ness was recalled from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this morning to bolster the Isles injury-riddled blueline. The 23-year-old defenseman has one goal and three asssits for the Sound Tigers this season and two penalty minutes in nine career games with the Islanders. Ness has posted 27 points in each of the last two seasons for Bridgeport.

Poulin Starting: Kevin Poulin will start in goal for the Islanders tonight. The Montreal, Que., native makes his second start in three games for the Islanders, after earning a 3-1 over Boston on Saturday.

Ness/McDonald: Capuano said there is a "good chance" both Ness and Colin McDonald will draw into the lineup tonight, but the coach did not confirm. Ness was recalled from Bridgeport this morning and McDonald has sufficiently recovered from a hip injury for the coach to put him in.

Clutterbuck/Donovan: Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Donovan were both on the ice this morning after sitting out yesterday's practice.

From the Coach: "When guys come up, we don't want to change who they are. (Ness is) a good puck moving guy, he's got mobility, he can get up in the play. He's proved that the last few years with us and I'm not afraid to put him on the ice."

From the Callup: "I know what to expect now, I got a little taste then. I think it's going to be even faster tonight and I understand that. I'll just do whatever I can to help out as much as possible.
