Morning Skate Updates: 9/23/15

TICKETS: Buy tickets for tonight's game. 

Poulin Starts: Kevin Poulin will start in goal Wednesday night for the Islanders, but Christopher Gibson will finish the game. 

Schneider Starts: Cory Schneider will start in goal tonight for the Devils. MacKenzie Blackwood will back him up. 

Where/When: Wednesday's game is at Barclays Center at 7 p.m. and can be seen on MSG+ 

Five Vets Debut: Kyle Okposo, Ryan Strome, Frans Nielsen, Travis Hamonic and Brock Nelson are making their preseason debuts for the Islanders against the Devils. With John Tavares also in the lineup, the Islanders five leading scorers from last season will all be skating. 

Okposo on preseason: "You’re just trying to get your feet back under you and the timing back. But you also want to try some new things and just get used to playing an actual game. In the summer it’s tough when you’re just playing shinny. You have to get back into those good habits and make sure you’re playing well."

McPhee Named Special Advisor to GM: Former Washington Capitals general manager George McPhee was named as a special advisor to Islanders GM Garth Snow. McPhee served as the Capitals GM for 17 seasons and spent five years in the Vancouver Canucks Hockey Ops department. Click here to read more. 

Coach’s Corner: Jack Capuano on tonight's game

"Expectations are high. As I just told them. I didn’t think we were physical enough last game. There are some players that have to play to their capabilities to help us win. Guys are going to get an opportunity on different lines to show us what they can do."
