Morning Skate Updates: 12/9 at Anaheim

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders
The Islanders are still in Southern California, as they prepare to take on the Anaheim Ducks tonight at 10:00 p.m. eastern time. The boys are three hours back, so their morning skate felt a little later on the east coast, but here is what you need to know from today's skate.

Lineup Notes/Changes:
Nilsson Starts: Anders Nilsson gets the start in goal tonight for the Islanders. The hulking Swede makes his fourth start of the season after starting three consecutive games from 11/30-12/5.

Bouchard Waived: Pierre-Marc Bouchard was placed on waivers by the Islanders earlier today. Peter Regin draws back into the lineup in place of Bouchard tonight.

Scratches: Eric Boulton and Radek Martinek are healthy scratches for the Islanders tonight.

From the Coach: You can’t play tight when you’re struggling offensively… You have to continue to work hard and not worry about your goals, stats or anything else. You have to win your shift and go out there and do what is expected of you. Your work ethic will dictate the scoreboard and your success. That’s all they can do, they can’t play tight, can’t squeeze their sticks and they have to find a way.

All-Time: The Islanders are 11-8-5 against the Ducks.
