Morning Skate Updates: 11/5/15

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders

Tavares In: John Tavares returns to the Islanders’ lineup tonight after missing three games with flu-like symptoms. Tavares said the illness kept him in bed for two days, but he's spent the past three days eating and rehydrating.

Tavares on Returning: I feel pretty good. It was a rough weekend for me. It stinks watching. I take a lot of pride in being as durable as I can. Just the way I felt, there was no way I could have found a way to play. Once I was finally able to get over that flu bug on Monday afternoon I was able to eat, rehydrate and put some of that weight back on I lost and get that energy back. Every day has felt better. Waking up this morning was definitely the best I’ve felt.

Capuano on Tavares: We’ll watch and see how he feels during the game. Obviously when you have the flu like that it takes a little bit of a toll on your body. We have four good lines, we’ll utilize them and monitor the minutes as we go along.

Halak in Goal: Jaroslav Halak will start in goal tonight for the Islanders.

Berube Backing Up: Quebec native Jean-Francois Berube will back up Halak in Montreal.

Bernier Out: Steve Bernier will come out of the lineup for John Tavares.

Lines TBD: Jack Capuano did not offer any other lineup changes for tonight's action.

Mike Condon Starts: With Carey Price still rehabbing a lower-body injury, Mike Condon gets the start in goal for the Canadiens. Condon, a rookie, is 4-0-1 this season with a 1.60 GAA and .941 SV%.
