NEWS, NOTES AND QUOTES

Halak Starts: Jaroslav Halak will start in goal for the Islanders tonight against the New Jersey Devils. Halak is riding a career-high, eight-game winning streak and has allowed just 10 goals over that span.He is the first Isles with eight straight wins since Mark Fitzpatrick (12/16/89 - 1/17/90).

Boychuk, Visnovsky Out: Defensemen Johnny Boychuk and Lubomir Visnovsky are both considered day-to-day with upper-body injuries and are out of tonight’s contest. Boychuk will miss his second straight game, while Visnovsky was injured in Friday’s game at Washington.

Capuano on Boychuk, Visnovsky:
When you go through a stretch like we’ve gone through, there are going to be bumps and bruises. Your team is playing hard and that’s what you want to see. You want to see icebags and you want to see guys banged up a little bit. Obviously you don’t want to see injuries, but it proves to you that your guys are playing hard.

Strait, Donovan In:
Brian Strait and Matt Donovan will step into the lineup tonight for Boychuk and Visnovsky.

Donovan on playing his second game of the season : People know I was in a tough position having not played all season. Playing after sitting out for 20 games is difficult. I was happy with the way I played. I kept things simple and I’m just going to try and continue that tonight.

Lineup: The forward lines from Friday’s game will remain intact.

Projected Lines:
86 Nikolay Kulemin 91 John Tavares 21 Kyle Okposo
84 Mikhail grabovski 51 Frans Nielsen 12 josh bailey
27 Anders Lee 29 Brock Nelson 18 ryan strome
17 Matt Martin 53 Casey Cizikas 15 Cal Clutterbuck

Six Games – Nine Days: The Islanders wrap up a stretch of six games in nine days. The Islanders are currently 4-1 in their last five games.

Henrique, Zajac Out: Adam Henrique (upper body) and Travis Zajac (lower body) did not accompany the Devils to Long Island and will not play tonight.

Jagr: Jaromir Jagr is leading the Devils with 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 23 games. The 42-year-old scored a goal and an assist against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. Jagr has 1,770 points (709 goals, 1,061 assists) in 1,496 career games and is one point shy of tying Marcel Dionne for fifth in all-time scoring.

Kyle Okposo on Jagr: It’s a pretty special feat. He might not be as fast as he once was, but he’s still got the same head on his shoulders. He’s a very smart player, a very heady player and strong on the puck. It’s tough to get it away from him.

Old vs. Young: The Devils have 14 players over 30 on their roster. With Adam Henrique out, the Devils only have one forward under the age of 28 playing tonight. With Lubomir Visnovsky, Eric Boulton, Johnny Boychuk and Matt Carkner out, 30-year-old Mikhail Grabovski will be the Islanders' oldest skater tonight.

Anders Lee on playing against a veteran team: They’ve been around, they know the ins and outs of the game, but at the same time we are doing pretty well too. They have a little bit more of a veteran presence, but I don’t think it plays too much of a difference. They see the ice really well and their systems are about controlling the puck.
