NEWS, NOTES AND QUOTES

Halak Starts: Jaroslav Halak will start in goal for the Islanders tonight in Pittsburgh. Halak is 3-0-0 this season and is coming off a 20 save performance against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night. The Islanders goaltender was especially sharp in overtime and the shootout, stopping seven shots in OT and four-of-five attempts in the shootout.

Grabovski Out, McDonald In: Colin McDonald is making his season debut tonight, drawing into the lineup in place of Mikhail Grabovski, who is sidelined with an upper-body injury. McDonald scored eight goals and 10 assists in 70 games last season for the Islanders.

Capuano said Grabovski will be re-evaluated on Sunday.

Where and When: Tonight's game is on MSG Plus at 7 p.m with Visa Islanders Gamenight starting at 6:30 p.m. Check local channel listings here.

Hot Start:
The Islanders are 4-0-0 to start the season for the first time since 2001-02. They are looking to start the season 5-0-0 for the first time in franchise history.

Early Leaders: John Tavares leads the NHL with seven assists and nine points. He is two assists and two points ahead of anyone else in the league.

PP Producer: Johnny Boychuk is tied for the NHL lead in power-play points with five (2g/3a). In four games with the Islanders, Boychuk has matched his career power-play production (five points) over 317 games with the Boston Bruins.

They Said It:
Colin McDonald on getting back into the lineup: “I’m excited. I was very happy with how the team was playing, so I wasn’t sure when I was going to get that chance. It’s unfortunate how I got my chance, but that’s a part of hockey and a part of sports. I was just trying to stay ready.”
