Satan Reunited with Team Slovakia winger

Islanders forward Miroslav Satan was happy to hear the news that GM Garth Snow had acquired countryman Richard Zednik today from Washington for a second round draft pick.

"Richard is a real team player," Satan said by telephone this evening. "It seems to me that he is a good fit for our team and the style Ted Nolan has us playing."

Satan and Zednik have been teammates on countless national squads, including Team Slovakia for the 2006 Olympics, the World Cup of Hockey in 1996 and 2006 and several World Championship teams. Satan does not know if he'll be on the same line as his old friend, but is confident Zednik will be an important addition to the Islanders as they make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"What our fans will like about Richard is that he scores goals, but he does so much more that that," said Satan. "He's a very hard worker and so strong on the puck in the corners and during one-on-ones. And anyone who has seen him play in big games like the playoffs knows that he's a competitor when it counts the most."

Zednik is expected to arrive on Long Island tonight and join the team for the morning skate at the Coliseum on Tuesday.
