New York Islanders defenseman Freddy Meyer and Hall of Fame Islander forward, Bob Nystrom participated in the Cancer Care's Annual Lung Cancer Walk this past Saturday.  With the sun shining brightly, more than 800 people came out to walk in an effort to support Lung Cancer Awareness and in remembrance of loved ones that lost the battle to lung cancer.

As walkers too part in the morning registration, they were greeted by the Islanders I.C.E. Tour.  Fans were able to get pictures and autographs with both Meyer and Nystrom before the walk started. The two Islander representatives kicked off the walk by cutting the ribbon at the starting line with scissors, signifying the start.

“Today was a great day to be outside and participate in an event such as this one.  Everyone knows someone who is battling or has lost the battle to cancer and I am happy to be onsite today to help raise awareness and lend support for such a great cause,” Meyer said.
