Dozens of reporters, photographers and cameras flood the Coliseum

The newest Islander, Ryan Smyth, had quite a welcome party when he arrived at the Nassau Coliseum this morning for the team's morning skate. With the amount of media descended upon the Coliseum this morning you would think the Islanders were in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Reporters from all across Canada and the tri-state area flocked to the Coliseum to capture the arrival of Smyth, who has been dubbed Å“Captain Canada.Â?

Mike Dunham's face said it all when he exited the locker room to head onto the ice for the team's morning skate. Å“Woah, who's here?Â? asked Dunham jokingly to the dozen or so cameramen lining the hallway.

Once on the ice, Smyth met with some of his former teammates including Tom Poti and introduced to himself to some new faces. Smyth spent much of the time working with assistant coach Dan Lacroix.

Check Islanders TV this afternoon to watch this morning™s press briefing with Ryan Smyth.
