Prior to Tuesday’s game against the Panthers, Islanders forward Matt Martin received the Bob Nystrom Award, as voted by the fans, for the third consecutive season. "Mr. Islander" Bob Nystrom was in attendance to present Martin with the award.
The annual award has been presented since 1991 to the Islander who best exemplifies leadership, hustle and dedication. Martin is well on his way to leading the National Hockey League in hits for the third consecutive season.
Matt has also remained committed to the community by hosting a child fighting cystic fibrosis at every home game alongside his teammate Casey Cizikas.
