Make your own Moulson t-shirt contest

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
Matt Moulson is entering the t-shirt business.

Due to the success of Michael Grabner’s “Gremlin” shirt, the Islanders wanted Moulson to design a shirt of his own and approached him with the idea of creating this one-of-a-kind item for the fans. Moulson knew exactly who to ask for help.

Moulson used Twitter to announce his idea. From his Twitter account @MMoulson, he tweeted: “Islanders wanted me to come up with a Moulson t-shirt and I thought who better to design than my followers.”

Moulson also tweeted the rules for the contest, even hinting at his nickname, “Muttson,” and asked fans to tweet him directly with their ideas.

The shirt can contain an image of him and must include his last name and number with no more than four colors. All ideas must be submitted before June 12.

Moulson will personally pick the winner and send that fan an autographed jersey, as well as some of the special edition t-shirts. All other Islanders fans can begin to pick up the specialty shirt at Moulson’s team store autograph signing and t-shirt debut in August. The date and time will be announced in the coming weeks on newyorkislanders.com.

Since the announcement, Moulson tweeted that there have been “some great t-shirt ideas so far…so keep them coming.” He also told his followers to submit as many ideas as they would like.

For fans who do not have Twitter, but still want to participate, Moulson encouraged them to email ideas to newsdesk@newyorkislanders.com, so that he can see them all.

Fans looking for feedback directly from Moulson or those that can’t wait until the autograph signing will have the opportunity to meet him, along with their other favorite players, at the 2011 Draft Party. The party starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 24 at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
