Long Island School For The Gifted Gets A Real Treat

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

After molding the young minds of the students who attend Huntington Intermediate School, Steve Webb, Valerie the Ice Girl, and Sparky made their way down the road to the Long Island School for The Gifted.  Over 200 students filled the modern auditorium and listened in to a lesson that is vital to everyone looking to be successful in their lives.  Steve took the idea of a school and compared it to a professional hockey organization, comparing the GM Garth Snow to the principal of the school.  Head coach Ted Nolan was compared to the teachers of the school since he is always trying to help the players get better and reach their fullest potential, the same way a teacher helps a student reach their potential.  Similarities were also drawn between the team’s athletic trainer and the school nurse.  The most important comparison made by Steve was between the players of a team being equivalent to all the students in a school.  This means that everybody in your school is someone you could help, respect, and work with, the same way the players on the New York Islanders do.  The assembly was concluded with a nice loud “Let’s Go Islanders” chant and each student received a great Islanders gift bag.  For more information about how you can get the We’re All Islander school assembly program to your school, call (516) 501-6780.
