The Islanders Summer I.C.E Tour was out in full force on Tuesday, visiting Long Beach Arena for another Islanders Rink Day. It was the fourth ice rink that the Islanders have visited this summer. Even with the hot weather, and picture-perfect beach setting, the youth hockey players in the Long Beach and surrounding areas came out to the rink to go skating and go through hockey drills with the Islanders.
More than 100 kids made their way to Long Beach to take part in all the festivities. Both parents and children were invited to take part in an open skate. Following the open skate the participants were broken up into different age groups and participated in various hockey drills.
Islanders defenseman Chris Campoli was on hand to help out with the festivities. Chris participated in the open session and then ran the shooting drills once the hockey clinic started. Chris took the time with each child and gave out pointers on how to improve their shot. He also made sure that every child got a picture and autograph before the event was over. “It was great to come down to Long Beach Arena,” Campoli said. “I enjoy working with the kids helping them improve their game. I look forward to being on the ice on Sunday at Newbridge Arena.” The Islanders will be hosting another Rink Day at Newbridge Arena in Bellmore on Sunday, August 3rd. Make sure to stop by between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to take part in this free event. Islanders players Chris Campoli and Joey MacDonald will be in attendance.
