Live Updates - Islanders vs. Lightning

1:00 - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NY

1st Period
0:01: These teams aren't taking long to get acquainted. Off the opening draw we have two bouts. Matt Martin and BJ Crombeen went at it, and on the other side, Joe Finley and Pierre-Cedric Labrie.

0:01: Before they could drop the puck again, Tampa Bay's Ryan Malone and the Islanders Colin McDonald just went to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct.

4:45: Islanders have most of the early pressure. Carkner just one-timed a puck from the right point off the post behind Anders Lindback.

6:33: PA announcer just recognized Lightning center Vincent Lecavalier for playing in his 1000th NHL game (all with Tampa Bay) today.

9:30: The Lightning went 3-for-7 Saturday on the power play, but the Islanders just killed one off. Game is scoreless. Shots: NYI 7 TBL 3

16:05: Islanders are now 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. Nabokov with a couple nice saves. Tampa Bay moves the puck well on the man advantage.

End 1st: NYI 0 TBL 0. Shots: NYI 9 TBL 7.

2nd Period
6:50: Michael Grabner puts the Islanders on the board. Mark Streit made a pass from the Islanders goal line about 120 feet up the ice. Grabner made a couple of dekes and slid the puck by Lindback. Nabokov gets the secondary assist. 1-0 Isles.

9:42: Scoreboard showing an 18-8 edge for the Isles in shots on goal. Quick math means that's 9-1 for this period.

11:08: Matt Moulson just got tangled up during a scramble to Lindback's right. He walked into the tunnel with the trainer to get checked out.

12:49: Announced attendance is 15,322. Near-sellout crowd is definitely making its presence felt this afternoon. Shots: NYI 23 TBL: 9

15:18: Islanders in the middle of third penalty kill of the afternoon. Nabokov with some clutch saves to keep the Islanders 1-0 lead in tact.

16:23: Matt Martin scores on a breakaway. Lightning entered the Islanders zone, but puck got lost on Frans Nielsen’s broken stick. John Tavares picked up the puck and made an outlet pass to a streaking Martin, who was coming out of the penalty box. Forehand shot beat Lindback. Isles 2-0.

17:35 Okposo wrister from the left circle. He took a feed from Tavares entering the zone in transition. 3-0 Islanders.

19:07 McDonald and Keith Aulie wanted to drop the gloves. Referee intervened before things could get started. Aulie went to the penalty box for cross-checking.

End 2nd: NYI 3 TBL 0. Shots: NYI 26 TBL 15. Islanders will have a little over a minute remaining on the power play when the third period starts.

3rd Period
1:31: Islanders go up 4-0 courtesy of a David Ullstrom top-shelf wrister from the left side. He and Colin McDonald Keith Aucoin executed a nice give-and-go entering the Tampa Bay zone.

2:22: Martin St. Louis' third goal of the season cuts Islanders lead to 4-1. Stamkos and Conacher get the assists.

5:00: Update: Moulson is back on Tavares' left wing. Appears to be ok.

7:26: And the Lightning are back to within two following a scramble in front of Nabokov. Isles goaltender tried to fall on the puck, but it remained loose, and Benoit Pouliot makes it 4-2.

8:00: Stamkos scores on a quick one-timer from Cory Conacher. It's now 4-3. Capuano calls a timeout.

14:12: Islanders still lead 4-3 at the TV timeout. Shots: NYI 36 TBL 25. Buckle up folks.

17:32: Nielsen gets taken down on a semi-breakaway. Could have been a penalty shot, but Nate Thompson is headed to the box for most of the remainder of this one.

18:13: Another penalty to Tampa Bay, and the Isles are on a 5-on-3.
